Abstract

These are a selection of my posts on the discussion board. They are my responses for the prompts given in the pandemic unit of this course. Included in this selection are my thoughts on the movie, Contagion, the US response during the COVID-19 spring outbreak, and the toll it has brought on the mental health of healthcare professionals.

For me, watching Contagion was a great introduction to the discussions we have about the pandemic. The movie is a visual representation of what is currently happening in our society. Watching the film and writing about it was an excellent learning experience. In my post, I wrote about the similarities between the scenes in the movie and the events happening today.

This is a simple observation I posted about the COVID-19 response of the US government. The one thing I noticed was that I failed to include sources to support my opinion. It would have been an effective piece if a link to a trustworthy website or article was attached to it.

This post is probably the one I like best throughout the semester. This is memorable because of the raw emotions I felt while writing it. At first, I was hesitant to share my experiences on the discussion board but I felt that it has become a safe space for us students to tell our stories during this extraordinary time. While the first paragraph highlighted my personal story, I can sense the change of tone and the urgency at the end of this piece. I was able to transform my narrative into a compelling message that could be more meaningful to the readers.
